Alan & Roman went to go wash Alan's truck. Yesterday while we were out and about I pointed out the reindeer "costume" people have on their cars and how I thought it was cute. Well while they were out, Roman saw the car costume and thought I would really like it and convinced Alan to buy it for me. It was really cute. :)
I love that my family knows I like cheesy holiday stuff, and they get it for me just to make me happy.
Unfortunately less than an hour after they got it we left for the day, and were on the highway when Alan thought he should re-adjust one of the antlers, rolled the window down a bit and out it flew down the highway. I wasn't that worried about it, it was just an object, but Roman got very upset and cried pretty hard for a few minutes. He was so upset that his gift that he wanted to get me just because he knew it would make he happy had flown out the window. I tried tellinh him that it was the thought that counts, that what made me happiest was the fact that he thought about me and picked out the gift in the first place, but he wasn't consoled. So finally I said we would just go buy a new one and then we would have some spare parts in case they got lost or broken. That stopped his tears. This was just a precurser to the day Roman was going to have,..... lol.
We knew we were going to go ice skating downtown, so we decided to go to bricktown and get some lunch first. We parked at Harkins theater and just started walking around to decide what we wanted. There is this new place called Roosters that we decided to try out.
It was really pretty good. It was a unique place. Everything was made out of unfinished wood (the walls and floor and such. The tables and chairs had the same wood color, but it was schlacked, lol, or whatever, where it had the glossy coating). They didn't have a menu, the waitress just said "half chicken or whole?" The half chicken was 4 pieces, and the whole chicken was 8 pieces. She said they had baskets of fries and okra. So we ordered a whole chicken and both baskets. It didn't even occur to us until we were done eating and she went to go get out check, that she didn't say how much anything was and we didn't ask, lol. But it turned out that it was the cheapest meal we've had out in a long time! The drinks were free, the chicken was only $12, and the baskets were $3 each (which were giant portions of fried and fried okra, it fed all 4 of us and then some) so even with tax our meal was just under $20 for four of us! And the chicken was really good (I personally am not a fan of fried chicken, but it had a really good flavor) as were the fries and okra, whatever seasoning they use is pretty yummy, but it did take them a while to get us our food. The atmosphere was quaint, and they played old school country music, like patsy cline and the dukes of hazzard theme song. I enjoyed it. :)
We decided to walk down the road to go to Santa's Wonderland inside of Bass Pro shop, and we had a picture made with Santa. They had crafts projects and fun games & toys set up to play. But it was a MADHOUSE!! There were so many people there, we didn't stay very long. Roman cried once again because we wouldn't stay to let him play the remote control cars. I had to pull out the mom lecture of 'be grateful for what you do get to do, not for what you don't get to do'..... lol.
Bricktown is so festive this time of year!
Next it was off to ice skate in front of the Civic Center. I do not ice skate, I'm quite certain I'm not going to be able to balance on a thin little blade, lol. But Roman & Alan enjoy it (Bourbon isn't interested in trying either, so we always go while he is at his dad's)
Amazingly enough, it was warm enough outside to enjoy ice cream while watching ice skaters (quite a different story from last year, when we went at night, it was FREEZING cold, and Starla & I ended up sitting in the van and watching a DVD while the Alan & Roman ice skated)!
Daddy took Starla out on the ice several time with just her shoes on, she had a blast!
Roman lasted about 30 minutes before he had a blister rubbed onto the back of oneof his heels and he refused to skate any longer. The silly boy had worn his favorite feety monkey socks, which Santa put into his stocking last year, and of which both heels are completley gone from! I had no idea they looked like that, not that he wore them to ice skate in, silly boy. My first instinct was to make him toss the, but of course Roman gets to emotional about stuff like that, so I told him I would see what kind of creation I could make out of them, like the sock monkeys I make. That made him happy.
But he sat down and cried again about his heel hurting....... poor kid cried more today than he has probably in the last week, lol.
After we got home, I slipped into my PJ's, threw together a breakfast casserole and threw it into the oven, then curled up onto the chair to read "More Pages From The Red Suit Diaries" which is an awesome faith infused book written by a man who has played Santa Claus for over 20 years. Anyways, Starla ate some chocolate muffins (you can see them on her face, lol) and then came and sat on my lap and asked if I would read my book to her, so I started reading it out lous, knowing she would care less about my "story", but in a matter of minutes she was fast asleep. I just let her sleep on my lap while I read for like an hour, making Alan tend to the dinner in the oven. :)
What a great day. At least from my point of view it was, maybe not so much Roman's, lol.

sounds like it was a wonderful day!
