I had a time

Did anyone watch My So-called life? I was such an avid fan when I was a teenager, sigh. One of the episodes, they said "we had a time..." my title made me think of it. If anyone ever wants a MSCL marathon, I own the DVD set and am just dying to sit down and watch them again! :)

So today was just one of those days, at least moments of it was. My student teaching was good, as always. I am getting the hang of the routines, and getting to know the kids. I am going to start taking over teaching Language Arts every day for her, which is nothing big, because she just follows out of a textbook and then has them do worksheets. Anyone who can read can teach it, but it still is experience teaching, so I won't complain. Then since last friday I went straight from my 4th grade class to UCO to meet my friend Lori for lunch, and discovered I could actually get a decent parking spot, I decided to start going straight there every day instead of coming home for lunch or whatever. Plus that gives me an hour in the computer lab to do homework and get caught up. So usually there is this parking etiquette I will call it, where cars sit there in a line, waiting for someone to come out to their car and then they get that spot, and then the next person in line waits for the next spot, etc. I was like 3 cars behind in this line when I got there, and after a few mintues of waiting, it was my turn and there was a car pulling out. I pulled up next to it, put on my blinker to show I was going there, and waited for it to move, when a car pulled in around the line, and went around behind the car I was waiting for (I was facing the opposite direction) and then whipped into the spot when they could clearly see I was waiting for it. I thought, "seriously?" If I wasn't such a nice person I would have flipped the girl off. :) So I pull back into the line, which I am now like the 2nd person waiting in this line, and wait my turn, only to have another car whip around me and take the next spot!! Doesn't anyone have common courtesy?! Seriously?! So I wait some more, and finally get a spot, right next to the one that stole my first spot. I parked REALLY close, so she wouldn't be able to get her door open........ ok, I couldn't resist. :) So I finally make it into the computer lab and I have an hour before class starts. I had done all my homework excett for one question one of of them, and had e-mailed it to my UCO e-mail account, and was just going to print it up at school, because I am out of black ink and didn't feel like running to the store to get some more. So I fiugred I would have an hour to work on tonights homework so that I didn't have so much to do tonight. So the silly UCO e-mail server won't open my stupid e-mail!! It kept timing out and giving me an error. I kept trying, and trying and trying. After 45 minutes, it finally let me in and I got all of my homework printed out and my last question done, just in time to head to class. So much for working ahead. So I get to class, and class is good. No big deal. I am actually feeling much more energized today than I have been since my surgery, so I am pretty happy about that. I don't have to yawn every 5 minutes, or feel like I am so drained I need to just lay down! AS most teacher ed. classes, we have like 30 females and 3 males in the class. So I am walking out with one of the guys, Charles, who runs a wildlife animal business with his wife, and he is telling me all about this Wildlife even in Guthrie in September as we walk out of the classroom and down our 3 flights of stairs, one of the other guys, John, is in front of us. But at the bottom of the stairs, John stops or turns, or something, I wasn't paying attention to him, but somehow he is now behind us. And we walk all the way across the building to the exit doors, when John calls my name. So I turn, and he has this weird look on his face, and he hurries over to us, and then says "Um, Tonya, your skirt is up." lol. I had slung my backpack over my shoulder in the classroom, catching the bottom of my skirt and pulling it up, and had walked all the way through the education building with it up. Lovely. And out of all the women in my class, it would be a guy that catches it! He looked very embarassed for a moment, lol. Funny enough, I just figured oh well, I'll live, and wasn't that embarrassed. I showed off my spanx tummy control shorts to the world. Lol. John was all "I'm so sorry." I said "No, THANK you, don't aplogize, I appreciate it." and then he's all "SO does this kind of think happen alot with skirts?" as if he is really interested, inquiring minds want to know, all seriously, casually, trying to make it ok or something, lol. Oh, it's been a day.

Starla had her meet the teacher night tonight at her mother's day out. It was fun! Her teachers names are Miss Laura and Miss Robyn. The classroom looks like it is going to be lots of fun. She already made friends with a set of twins in her class, Gracie & Elizabeth. I have pics, but I will just combine them with the first day of school pics from tomorrow and post them then. I'm sad that I don't ever get to take her to or pick her up from school though. My mom and Alan get to do that. At least I can get them to take pictures of her with her cute little backpack and lunchbox. :)

And now I must go do mu homework that I didn't get to start this afternoon, and this time I am going to save it on my flashdrive instead of relying on the silly e-mail.....
