Losers Week 1

So this is do over week 1. The first official weigh in for this time, and I have lost 2.2 lbs this week. Not bad.

I did pretty darn good all week, and only fudged during the weekend. (well except for Monday, Valentine's day....) I went to the gym for an hour monday, walked 25-30 minutes tues, Wed & thursday, and then we went to the zoo for 4 hours on friday and I'm quite certain we were walking during at least half of that time. I ate well, made healthy food choices and overall did pretty darn good. The weekend I didn't eat all that well, and didn't get much exercise in, but oh well, I still lost 2.2 lbs. I'd like to lose 2.5 each week, so I could in theory drop 10 lbs each month. It's a goal.

You know, I had never even seen a biggest loser episode, until the week before last. We were watching a movie, and when it ended, the biggest loser was on the tv, and so we just left it there, and Roman & I watched it. That's all it took, now I'm hooked. Which is why I try to stay away from new TV shows, and stick just to the ones I've watched forever, because I get hooked too easily. I'm sure there are a ton of shows out there that I would like, but I don't have time, so I just don't ever watch them, not even once. But, as soon as that episode was over (I think we caught the last hour, it is a 2 hour show!!) I set up my DVR to record all the episodes, and so I watched it again this last week. I am going to use it as inspiration. Those people really push themselves. Granted they are secluded on a ranch with trainers and only the food they are allowed to eat, but still, I can get some inspiration from that. :)

So this week, I am going to go all out "loser". I got the Jillian Michaels shakes, fat burner pills and checked out her "Master your metabolism" cookbook from the library. I hate fad diets, and diet pills, but I gotta do something to jump start this thing. If I could get my first 10lbs lost, I would be better off. Because when I only lose 2-3 lbs, well then it's not big deal if I gain it back, such a small amount. But once I hit about 10 lbs, then I am serious about not wanting to gain any of it back. So at least to jump start me, I am going to do the shakes and pills. But I want to just learn how to eat healthier and have portion control and all that, so that I don't just gain it all back after the shakes and pills are gone.

Actually I started it yesterday, so today is day 2 of having the shakes for breakfast & lunch, and then just eating dinner. So far so good. I'm not starving, I feel satisfied, so hopefully it will be a good week. I did my 65 mins work out at the gym today (45 on the elliptical and 20 on different strength training machines). I will walk after school each day this week, and then I am going to go to the gym wed. night while the kids are at church, and then on friday morning. So I should have no problem getting my exercise in.

I am stocked with healthy snacks in case I do get hungry between meals or whatever, so even if I do eat something, I won't totally blow it. Today I had my shake for breakfast, a banana for a mid-morning snack, my shake for lunch with about a cup of steamed butternut squash (YUM! I love squash so very much!), then I had a weight watchers snack bar for my mid-afternoon snack. Then I had a weight watchers string cheese for a late afternoon snack. (still trying to eat a little something every few hours to keep my metabolism working all day), we had a walnut & pasta stir fry with a ton of veggies in it for dinner (very healthy for all of us) and some watermelon, and then I had a weight watchers snack bar and a fiber one yogurt for my evening snack (probably should have only had one, but I was still kinda hungry after the bar so I ate the yogurt, which is still only 1 point on WW, so it can't be all that bad). I will probably make myself a cup of herbal peppermint green tea after I am done here and that will be it for the day. I'm thinking all of that is in the 1200 calories range, if that much, so that's a good amount for the day. So that's how I plan on doing it all week. If I get hungry, I have healthy snack options, so I can still eat something but not blow my diet.

Here's to losing 3 lbs this week. :)
