Ready for a fun night!
Check in was at 6pm. On every advertisement I had seen about the bright nights (in Metrofamily, in our Member Newsletter, in e-mails, etc) and when I called to sign-up and even on the confirmation paperwork they mailed ot me, it only said that each bright night (there are like 6 different ones scheduled for the year or something like that) includes an omnidome movie and that concessions were available for purchase during the show. So when we got there to check in, I asked what movie we would be watching. The kids checking us in couldn't haveen been older than 15, looked at me like I was an idiot, and said "Um, Harry Potter." and Roman said "oh wow, the 5th one?" because we thought it was at the omnidome theater there at the museum, and they don't usually show regular movies, so we thought maybe they were just doing an older HP movie. And the kid was like "No, the 6th one, The Half-Blood Prince?" like we were so silly and out of it. They were in fact busing us over to the nearby theater to watch the new HP movie! I can't believe they don't advertise that, I think they would get SOOO many more people!! So we got to see it twice, in a matter of days, lol.
We got to play for an hour before we had to report to the first activity. It was kinda nice having the run of the place without hardly any people there!!
We talked to a few families that were there, they said there were 124 of us, but I didn't count, lol. Almost every one that we talked to had been coming to this every single time an HP movie came out. I didn't even know they did it! But I guess they have been doing it for a very long time. Some of them were from Texas and come here just for this each year (or 2 as the case was with this movie). So they all knew we were going to watch the movie, because they do it each year. There were a couple of others that this was their first time that also had no clue and asked upon arrival what we would be watching. So at least I wasn't the only one that looked like an idiot. :)

At 7:15pm it was time for the "welcome to Hogwarts" show.
These guys put on a cute little show. They did all the little "magic" science tricks. It was basically their normal 'Science Live' show, with a HP twist. But these guys were the oldest people in charge, and they were quite younger than myself I would think. There were probably 10 other "staff" members of the night, and all of them were teenagers, the youngest probably 12 and the oldest maybe 17. Which was quite odd, not to mention that they were all acting a fool alot, and there weren't really any adults (other than parents) to tell them to knock it off since they were "in charge". There might have been adults there behind the scenes (there were several security guards posted at each door) but the ones that were escorting and leading us were all kids!
Laying on a bed of nails, with another bed of nails on top, and a volunteer on top of that. Forget that.....
At 7:45 it was time to head upstairs for the HP activities
We watched some boys play human chess.
Roman got to play the position of Keeper during the quidditch game, which he had a blast doing. It lasted quite a while, and his team won.
We made a pensieve memory bottle and a peppermint dream pillow
Roman made some homemade ice cream and edible dirtcups.
After the HP activies we went and watched the planetarium show, which is soo much more interesting now that I am taking astronomy, lol.
After that we got to play for about 30 more minutes before we had to leave for the movie.

at 9:30pm they bused us all down the street to Tinsletown theaters to watch the show. The show didn't actually start until 10:30, and the theater is 5 minutes away, so we sat there and answered trivia questions forever!
They gave each of us a movie meal, with popcorn, candy and soda. Again, we had no clue this was included. Silly people should give more details!

We got back from the movie a little after 1am, and decided to find our place to sleep. Roman had fallen asleep at the movie, and I was dozing off myself, lol. I don't even really remember seeing the last 15 minutes of the show! When we got back they were starting the Harry Potter movie marathon in the auditorium for those that wanted to stay up all night, which were quite a few. Lots of people just ran around and played in the museum too, we weren't sure if we were going to get any sleep! lol. We were allowed to sleep anywhere on the 1st floor, so we walked around trying to figure out the best place. We really weren't sure if they were going to turn any lights off or anything (again, the kids in charge weren't very informative, lol), so we wanted a dark and quiet place. We first thought maybe next to the shadow machine, but quickly figured out that the loud beep and flashing light every minute or so wasn't going to work. Then we found a hallway near the planetarium that we thought might work, but then we realized that the boucing of the metal balls on the gravatrom machine was quite loud there. So finally we decided to go into the weather room with another mom & son, because at least it was quiet in there and we could close the doors to it!
Roman decided to crawl into a little cubbiehole in the wall and sleep there. They came around and turned out all the lights at 2am, and then came in at 6:30am to turn them back on and tell us to wake up!! We were a bit tired....
Roman wasn't a happy camper upon waking up, lol, it took him a minute. We ate our breakfast of krispie kreme donuts and milk.
We played in the museum for another hour before heading out the door at 8:15am.
It was really alot of fun, and I'm glad I got the time to spend with ROman. Starla gets spoile rotton all the time, and Bourbon gets special gifts and activities and trips with his dad that Roman doesn't get, so it was nice to treat him to something that was just for him.
