Storms

So thursdays freak storm caught us by surprise. I was actually driving back from dropping Starla off on the turnpike with my sister-in-law,(she was going to be staying 2 days with them in Duncan, we meet halfway on the turnpike for the drop off/pickup!) when it hit midwesy city. Alan called me and said I might want to pull over and hang out and let it pass over before I came home, but I was stuck in 5 o clock traffic on the way home anyways, so it was all over before I got there.

On the drive home, it was so neat to see on the lefthand side this beautiful, fairy tale blue sky with white fluffy clouds, just picture perfect, and then on the right hand side it was just a black ominous sky with lightening flashing through it. I have a fascination with clouds anyways (clouds and trees, those are my favorite things in nature)so while I was stopped in 2 mile an hour traffic near bricktown, I took this picture, of the 2 different types of sky meeting. The picture doesn't do it justice, plus you need to see more of a panoramic view to get the full effect, but here it is anyway.

As we got closer to home we could see fences knocked all over the place, whole trees knocked over, tree limbs and leaves everywhere.

Lots of limbs were ripped out of the tree in our front yard.

Our house was covered in wet leaves everywhere! It was like green confetti!

Sadly, there was a casualty of the storm. Starla's froggy pool was pronounced dead on impact when a limb fell on it's head......

Our poor tree took quite a beating

Since we didn't have power, we decided to go out for dinner. When we drove around, we got more of a sense of what kind of damage had been done!

We were without power from about 5pm thursday to about 11am friday. So to kill some time after dark, Roman read a book by candlelight. I had to study for my Astronomy test the next day, so we just sat together at the table. I thought it was kinda nice.I'm really glad Starla wasn't home, she would have been hard to entertain without power! She hates the dark.
