Progress

So today marks one week on my HCG diet, and I have lost 8.8 lbs and 8.5 inches (it always amazes me that each time I do this, I lose just about an inch per pound lost!). I know people that do this diet that lost twice as much as that in a week, and I know people who do it that lose half of that in a week, so I really don't know what the method of the madness is. Lol. But I am quite happy with my 8 lbs, and hope to lose that much each week! I have not cheated one single time, not one thing has passed my lips that wasn't supposed to, so I am very excited. I want to stick to it for the 20 days it takes to reset your metabolism, and after that I may have a cheat day here or there, but I want to stay on the diet for 40 days, possibly 50. We shall see how it goes.

My cholesterol numbers came back today, and my Triglycerides and LDL numbers were in the normal range, but my "bad" cholesterol, HDL is at 116, when it is supposed to be under 100. Not a huge deal, the Dr. said he wasn't worried about it, to just eat a lower fat diet and they could recheck it in 90 days. So woo hoo!

We are definitely going to have to start bargin hunting for healthy food! Alan started his diet today, and today is grocery shopping day. It is ridiculous how much I spent today on a weeks worth of groceries!! I said one of us is going to have to ditch their diet, lol. It's just so much cheaper to buy junk! But when you pay $1-$3 more for something just because it is nonfat, or high in fiber, or healthier, and you buy 100 things, then those dollars add up!!! It's crazy. It's so much cheaper to buy boxes of cupcakes and bags of potato chips!!! No wonder America is so overweight.

My kids LOVE fiber one bars, which is great, because they have 9 grams of fiber, which is almost half of the fiber they need in a day. And my friend Lori let me know that those FlatOut breads have 9 grams of fiber in them each! And she gave me the idea of making pizzas out of them, which we are going to do this week. Yeah for healthy fun meals! The kids and I made "healthy" cookies today too! They are called double oat breakfast cookies, and they have wheat flour, oats, wheat germ, flaxseed, dark chocolate, and raisins and cheerios. Everyone gave them a thumbs up (even Alan), and since I can't eat them I gotta take their word for it! :) Yeah for yummy healthy cookies! We also made healthy banana nut muffins. I decided since I'm an at home mom, I really should feed my kids better things for breakfast instead of just cereal and frozen waffles all the time. So I am going to try to cook them a hot breakfast every other day, and have other yummy options like breakfast cookies and muffins on the other days.

My cookie helpers! Roman & Starla helped make the cookies and Bourbon made the muffins, but he escaped a picure....

Tomorrow I get to work at Starla's school again, in the baby room again. :) And tomorrow at 8am the interview schedule is posted for some of the schools that are going to be at the Teach Job fair at the end of the month at UCO. So I can log on and sign up for my interview time slots. But they said some schools trickle in slowly and there may only be a few schools listed tomorrow. We shall see!

  1. Isn't it crazy how expensive healthy food is? Thank God beans and whole grain rice are cheap or else we would have nothing good for us here at my house :) Keep up the good work!
